FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
1. General Information

What is the PPG 1002?
The PPG 1002 is an exclusive reissue of the legendary analog synthesizer designed by Wolfgang Palm in 1975. It has been meticulously reconstructed based on the original hand-drawn schematics, delivering the authentic PPG sound with enhanced technical features.

How many presets are there on the 1002?
Sadly, the 1002 doesn't have any presets – it's a "what you see is what you get" kind of instrument.

How many units will be produced?
The reissue is limited to 102 units worldwide. Each synthesizer is individually built to order.

Is it possible to order the 1002 once 102 units are sold?
Regrettably, no. The 102nd example will be the definitive last 1002 that we will produce.

Is the PPG 1002 an exact replica of the original?
Yes, the analog signal path and circuit design are based on the original 1975 version. However, some improvements have been made, including more stable temperature compensation for the VCOs, as well as an additional ring modulator and sub-oscillator.

What improvements have been made?
In addition to optimized tuning stability, the new PPG 1002 features:
• An additional sub-oscillator for expanded sonic possibilities.
• An integrated ring modulator, which can be activated instead of the noise generator.
• COâ‚‚-neutral production as part of a sustainable initiative.
Tuning Behavior
After powering on, the PPG 1002 requires a short warm-up period to reach tuning stability. While the VCOs are generally stable after around 3 minutes, we recommend allowing approximately 10 minutes for optimal performance. It's completely normal for the pitch to slowly rise during the initial warm-up phase — the VCOs are gradually stabilizing. Once this process is complete, the tuning will remain steady.

2. Ordering & Payment

How can I reserve the PPG 1002?
You can pre-order your PPG 1002 by clicking the "Reserve your PPG 1002" button on our website. Please note that production begins only after an order is placed.

How much does the 1002 cost?
The 1002 costs 9999 euros plus shipping. A 4999 euro down payment is required to initiate production.
Do I need to create an account to place an order?
Yes, a customer account is required to complete your order. This allows you to track your order status.
How much is the deposit?
A 50% deposit of the total price is required to secure your order. The remaining balance is due before shipping.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept bank transfer, credit card, and PayPal. All transactions are securely processed.
Can I cancel or modify my order?
Since each PPG 1002 is built to order, cancellations or modifications are unfortunately not possible after production has begun.

3. Production & Delivery

When does production start for my synthesizer?
Production starts only after the deposit has been received. A significant number of the 1002's parts are manufactured by hand. Precision components are placed and soldered by a robotic system and automatically tested for errors.
How long does it take to receive my PPG 1002?
The estimated production time is 3 months from the date of order. You will receive regular updates on the progress.
How is the synthesizer shipped, and what are the shipping options?
We ship worldwide via DHL or freight forwarding service. Shipping costs are calculated during the order process.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we offer worldwide shipping. Any applicable customs duties or import taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.

4. Technical Details

What connections does the PPG 1002 have?
The synthesizer features CV/Gate inputs and MIDI, making it easy to integrate into any studio or live setup.
Does the PPG 1002 support MIDI and CV/Gate control?
Yes, the PPG 1002 supports both classic CV/Gate control and MIDI for modern setups.
What are the key sound features of the synthesizer?
• Two analog VCOs with mixable waveforms (triangle to sawtooth).
• Temperature-compensated oscillators for improved tuning stability.
• 24dB low-pass filter with resonance.
• Voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA).
• Modulatable LFOs with triangle and pulse waveforms.
• New: Ring modulator and sub-oscillator for an expanded sonic palette.
Is there a user manual?
Yes, each PPG 1002 comes with a detailed user manual.

5. Environment & Sustainability

How is COâ‚‚ neutrality ensured?
The entire production and shipping process of the PPG 1002 is COâ‚‚-neutral. We offset all emissions through sustainable environmental projects.
Which environmental projects are supported by purchasing the PPG 1002?
A portion of the proceeds is donated to the Liquid Sky Reforestation Project in Portugal, which focuses on reforestation and ecosystem restoration.
Is sustainable material used in production?
Yes, wherever possible, we use environmentally friendly materials and sustainable manufacturing methods.

6. Support & Warranty

Is there a warranty on the PPG 1002?
Yes, the synthesizer comes with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects.
Who can help me with technical issues or repairs?
Our support team is available to assist you at any time. You can also send in your synthesizer for maintenance.
Are spare parts and service options available?
Yes, we offer spare parts and repair services to ensure the longevity of your PPG 1002. The synthesizer is designed so that, in the event of a defect, only specific circuit board sections need to be replaced rather than the entire board.
